Sliding on sleds, inflatable tubes or "three skis", snow scooter rides, building forts or snowball fights: there are countless ways to take advantage of the cold weather!

How to choose the right equipment for sledding?

Can you think of a child who doesn't like to ride in a sled down small or large hills? You're in luck, you have a ton of choices. Here are the advantages of each type of sled.

  • Inflatable tubes: They provide comfort and good cushioning when they go over the small bumps in the track.
  • Foam sleds: Perfect for the youngest: they are easy to handle and don't slide too fast.
  • Saucers: They lack control and can turn over.
  • Sliding mats: These inexpensive, famous crazy carpets are easy to transport to the top of the slopes thanks to their lightness.
  • Plastic sleds: In addition to descending the slopes with several people (depending on the size), they can also be used to transport the children to the daycare.
  • Three skis: For those who have a need for speed! Requires some skill to ride them.
  • Toboggan: These "wild trains" have a little vintage touch that will make you look good on the slopes!

You can also consider snow scooters, alpine sledges or snowmobiles.

Some fun ideas to build with snow and ice

As long as Mother Nature is generous with sending us snow, it's impossible to get bored. You will find inspiration to build with snow on Vifa Magazine: igloos and quinzees, sledding in your yard, home ice rink, snowmen and snow castles.

Freeze yogurt cups and milk cartons filled with coloured water. This will add a unique touch to your snow buildings.

Why not organize a competition with the neighbours!

Some ideas for outdoor winter games

This winter keep your spikeball, frisbee, slackline, petanque, pockets or iron on hand.

Don't store your outdoor fireplace too far away either! A fire and a thick blanket will allow you to enjoy the cold days outdoors. Don’t forget a warm drink and marshmallows!
