Important information

Accepted credit cards: American Express, MasterCard and Visa. All credit cards must be issued by a Canadian financial institution.

Credit cards are not charged until items have been shipped (either to home or store). For your security, your billing name and address should match the one associated of the credit card used for payment. We reserve the right to cancel any order that does not meet the above criteria.

Gift cards and promotional cards are accepted as methods of payment. You can use up to two (2) cards per transaction. Please refer to the Gift Cards Promotional Cards page.


Payment options

Which methods of payment are accepted?

There are various payment options available to you. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express, as well as gift cards and promotional cards with a PIN. Payment by PayPal is also available.

Can I use more than one method of payment?

Absolutely! You can pay by combining up to two (2) gift cards (or promotional cards) with one credit card.

Which taxes apply to my purchase?

Since all products are delivered in the province of Quebec, the 5% Goods and Services Tax (GST) and 9.975% Quebec Sales Tax (QST) will be applied. Note, however, that taxes do not apply to gift cards.

When will I be charged for my order?

You will be charged when your order is shipped.

If you are using a credit card as method of payment, the original charge you will see on your statement will be a pre-authorization. The pre-authorized amount is withdrawn from your account at the time of shipment. If items are shipped separately, you will see a separate charge for each shipment.

Are purchases made on sportsexperts.ca secure?

In compliance with industry standards, sportsexperts.ca uses the Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption protocol to protect your information when you place your order. The Transport Layer Security protocol encrypts all transactions made on sportsexperts.ca.

If you notice any unauthorized charges made to your credit card after shopping on sportsexperts.ca, please notify your credit card provider in compliance with its reporting policy.

Why was I charged twice?

When you place an order on your website, a pre-authorization is placed on your card to ensure the funds are available to pay for the order.

The value of your order is only changed when the order is shipped. The pre-authorization will then disappear.

Please note that your order may be shipped in separate packages. In this case, you will see separate charges on your account for each package shipped.


PayPal

What is PayPal?

PayPal is an alternate method of payment on sportsexperts.ca. PayPal enables any individual or business with an email address to securely send payments online. With a PayPal account, you can choose to pay with your credit card, debit card, bank account, or PayPal account balance for any purchase you make.

Your credit card and bank numbers will never be seen by the seller or merchant. Plus, you are 100% protected against unauthorized payments sent from your account.

How does PayPal work?

PayPal is used to securely send payments over the internet. You can choose to pay from your PayPal account balance, a credit card, debit card, or bank account.

To make a PayPal purchase, select “Check out with PayPal” when you are ready to complete your order on sportsexperts.ca website. You will be prompted to log into your PayPal account, if not already signed in. Your funds are transferred immediately and securely.

What are the conditions for using PayPal?

If you select PayPal as your payment option, you will continue through the standard checkout process and then automatically be redirected to paypal.com to complete your payment. Once you have been redirected to paypal.com, you will have 25 minutes to complete the payment before your order is dropped. When PayPal is used as payment method, your purchases may be returned to our Sports Experts or Atmosphere retail store locations to receive a refund.

The return will be applied to the credit or the debit card attached to your PayPal account. You can also return your PayPal orders to our warehouse. For details on how to return an item to our warehouse, please see our Online Purchases Return Policy.

How does PayPal help cover me when I make online purchases?

When you send a payment using PayPal, the retailer won’t receive your financial information. Additionally, we can also protect you when there is a problem with eligible purchases:

  • zero liability for unauthorized purchases: for instance, if someone uses your PayPal account without your permission;
  • refunds for incorrect orders or undelivered items: for instance, if you ordered a blue shirt but received a pink shirt.

How do I create a PayPal account?

To get started, go on the PayPal website to the “Create a PayPal account” section. Choose the desired account type then simply fill out the required fields following the instructions on the screen.

How secure is PayPal?

PayPal is highly secure and committed to protect the privacy of its users. PayPal uses the SSL technology to keep your information safe. Moreover, when you use PayPal to send money, the recipient does not receive any sensitive financial information such as your credit card numbers or bank account.
